If you’re someone who is frequently stressed or wound tight, you will notice a feeling of calmness and control in your daily life, even when you’re not meditating. If you have uncontrollable negative thoughts or mental health problems, meditation will help you relax and focus your brain on what is important. Instead of thinking in a ton of different directions, the mind will be serene and calm after only one session.

How To Start
Getting started doesn’t have to be difficult as mediation as actually quite easy to understand. Most people meditate early in the mornings or in the middle of their days when they are most stressed. It’s best to find a quiet place with comfortable lighting and a comfortable place to sit. If you can, cross your legs when you sit and make sure your back is in the upright position before you begin.

Now you’re ready to start, the first thing you’re going to want to do is take a deep breath in and then breathe out. When you’re starting it’s best to focus on your breathing and that’s it. After 10 or 20 seconds of deep breathing, you should go ahead and close your eyes. When you close your eyes you’ll find it’s easier to focus on your breathing. Throughout the entire process your goal is to focus on your deep breathing. After a few minutes with your eyes closed, you can even begin to make a noise with your mouth on each breath you release. You’ll find this noise you make will also be relaxing. Some people hold this position of deep breathing with their eyes closed for 5-10 minutes. Others can go longer but if you’re just starting out it’s best to work your way up.

Who It Helps
Meditation works for people of all ages and genders. If you’re having trouble with anxiety or even other problems like sleeping, you should try meditation and see what it can do for you.
